Coastal Carolina University's held a commencement ceremony for an estimated 390 candidates for graduation Aug. 4, 2017, at the HTC Student Recreation and Convocation Center on campus. In his remarks, commencement speaker John Hutchens, biology professor and ecologist, encouraged graduates to take time in the future to interact with nature and with other people. "In today's high tech world we are often racing along at breakneck speed, but being outside slows you down and allows you to experience the rhythms of nature," said Hutchens. "You can actually hear yourself think and you can be a part of something bigger than yourself."

Troy University is proud to announce students who have been named to the Provost's List for the summer semester and Term 5 of the 2016/2017 academic year. Full-time undergraduate students who are registered for at least 12 semester hours and who have a grade point average of at least 3.65 qualify for the Provost's List. The summer semester includes students at the Troy, Ala., campus. Term 5 includes students at TROY's campuses in Dothan, Phenix City and Montgomery, Ala., along with locations outside of Alabama and online.

USC Sumter Opportunity Scholars Program (OSP) Jump Start Students volunteered their time to help feed the hungry as part of a larger operation that served nearly 100,000 needy residents. Jump Start students take an intense University 101 course to get ahead of their studies in the fall. Community service projects are a part of the U101 class and a part of OSP.

Adrienne Cataldo's Early College University 101 class volunteered their time to clean up the Anderson Library Garden on Wednesday, Augist 1, 2017. Located behind the Library, the garden is a secluded area for students, faculty, staff and the comunity to utilize when studying or taking a break. It is home to various statues, plants and even the university time capsule. Student groups donate their time to maintain the garden by pulling weeds, raking and cleaning up debris. Keeping the garden clean makes it a more enjoyable and usable space.

Professor Kris Weissmann's Early College University 101 class volunteered their time to clean up Benton Park on Monday, July 31. Located near the University of South Carolina Sumter, Benton Park is a neighborhood park the university "adopted" several years ago. Student groups donate their time to maintain the park by pulling weeds, raking, cleaning up debris and picking up trash. Keeping the park clean makes it easier and safer for neighborhood children to take advantage of the swings and open green spaces the park has to offer.

A total of 11,101 students enrolled during the 2017 spring semester at The University of Alabama were named to the Dean's List with an academic record of 3.5 (or above) or the President's List with an academic record of 4.0 (all A's). The UA Dean's and President's lists recognize full-time undergraduate students. The lists do not apply to graduate students or undergraduate students who take less than a full course load.

SUNY Canton has announced its Dean's List for the Spring 2017 semester.

To qualify for inclusion, students must have completed at least 30 hours at a University of South Carolina campus with a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.00, and have achieved a 3.95 or higher grade-point average for the Spring 2017 semester while being registered for 12 or more hours on the Sumter campus, of which at least six hours must be USC Sumter courses.

Approximately 1,920 students have made the Spring Semester 2017 Dean's List for academic achievement at Coastal Carolina University.

More than 800 students received associate's degrees from Georgia State University during the week of May 8, 2017.

Coastal Carolina University has announced that 745 students made the President's honor list for high academic achievement for the 2017 Spring Semester. To qualify for the President's List for high academic achievement, students must earn a 4.0 grade point average and must be enrolled full time.

USC Sumter held the annual Commencement ceremony on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 in the Nettes Auditorium. More than 100 students received Associate Degrees.

Coastal Carolina University's held commencement ceremonies for an estimated 1,145 candidates for graduation May 5 and 6, 2017, at the HTC Student Recreation and Convocation Center on campus. In her remarks to Coastal Carolina University's Class of 2017, commencement speaker Amber J. Campbell encouraged graduates to be true to themselves and their own course in life instead of relying too much on conventional wisdom. "Don't listen to 'they,' because 'they' will tell you all kinds of things," said Campbell, an Olympic athlete and 2004 CCU graduate. " 'They' don't always have your best interests at heart. 'They' will try to talk you out of your dream. 'They' will tell you that what you're pursuing doesn't make sense or that the career you chose is too obscure. Meanwhile, you might end up a three-time Olympian and travel the world!"

Forty-five Coastal Carolina University students have been cast in the upcoming performance of "Oklahoma!" which is being presented by CCU's Department of Theatre from Feb. 16, through Feb. 25, in Wheelwright Auditorium. The classic American musical was the first collaboration of musical duo Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II and tells the story of a headstrong couple who refuse to acknowledge their mutual love.
